The 22nd Commonwealth Games began last month in Birmingham, England, on the 28th July. More than 5,000 sportspersons participated in this grand sports festival in which 72 countries participated. After these competitions, Australia comes first with 178 medals (67 gold, 57 silver, and 54 bronze). England was second with 176 medals (57 gold, 66 silver, 53 bronze), and Canada was third with 92 (26 gold, 32 silver, 34 bronze). India topped the medal table with 61 medals, including 22 gold, 16 silver, and 23 bronze. Ranked 4th.
The closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games was held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. In this, Prince Edward formally announced the end of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. The next Commonwealth Games will be held in Victoria, Australia, in 2026, with a spectacular fireworks display along with various music and artistic performances that mesmerized the audience. Table tennis player Achanta Sharath Kamal and boxer Nikhat led the team carrying the Indian national flag in the closing ceremony parade.
