Commonwealth Games 2022: Indian Weightlifters Victory And Medals

Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won India's first gold medal in the women's 49kg category at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday (July 30). She won gold in the women's 49 kg category, setting new records in both the snatch and clean and jerk rounds of her finals. Chanu took the crown by lifting 88 kg in the snatch, followed by 113 kg in the clean and jerk round with 201 kg.
Now, in the same weightlifting competition, India has bagged its second gold. Jeremy Lalrinnunga wins gold in the men's 67kg weightlifting event. He has lifted a record of 140 kg in the snatch category, 160 kg in the clean & jerk category and a total weight of 300 kg. Weightlifter Achinta Sheuli (73kg) gave India's third gold in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Bindyarani goes for 116 kg in her last attempt and successfully lifts to set a Commonwealth Games record in clean and jerk. Her total weight stands at 202 kg, and she secures a silver medal in the event.
Chanu, who won a gold medal in the same category at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, entered the field as the defending champion in the women's 49 kg weightlifting event. The nation celebrated the victory of Chanu Saikhom Mirabai. Mirabai has posted a video of her mother and other family members celebrating the victory by holding the national flag.
