YouTube New Rules Allows Users To Delete AI-Generated Videos

YouTube Update

YouTube has introduced new guidance aimed at helping viewers distinguish AI-generated content, addressing concerns about potential misinformation. Under the new guidelines, creators must disclose when their videos are made or altered using AI.

YouTube Privacy Request:

YouTube now offers users the ability to request the removal of specific content generated by artificial intelligence through a privacy request process. This feature is designed to enhance user privacy and ensure that users have control over the content that pertains to them.

Labeling AI Videos:

An important aspect of creating content, especially when addressing sensitive subjects such as elections, ongoing conflicts, public health crises, and public figures, is clarity.

YouTube has announced that creators will be required to clearly label any AI-generated content. This labeling initiative will be gradually implemented and aims to prevent viewer confusion and ensure transparency about the nature of the content they are consuming.

To support this effort, YouTube will prominently label AI-generated content within the video player and description panel. The goal of this labeling is to prevent confusion and provide transparency to viewers about the nature of the media they are watching.

In situations where labeling alone is not enough, YouTube has stated that it may remove artificial media that violates Community Guidelines, regardless of the labeling. This strict approach is designed to uphold content integrity and protect viewers from potential harm.

AI Videos Removal Request:

Users can ask YouTube to take down content that has been generated or changed by AI. To request the removal, users need to go through a privacy request process.

The requests will be reviewed based on different factors such as whether the content is considered parody or satire, the uniqueness of the requester's identification, and whether public figures or well-known individuals are involved. These requests will receive extra attention.

Creators who fail to comply with the new disclosure requirements may face penalties, including content removal, suspension from the YouTube Partner Program, or other disciplinary actions.

Uploader's Options:

When a privacy complaint is lodged, YouTube will communicate with the video uploader, providing them with an opportunity to either modify or delete any private information contained within their video.

The uploader will be notified about the alleged violation and, at YouTube's preference, given a 48-hour window to address the complaint. During this period, the creator can make use of the available Trim or Blur tools in YouTube Studio to address privacy concerns.

If the uploader opts to delete the video instead, the complaint will be resolved. However, if the potential privacy violation persists, the YouTube Team will conduct a thorough review of the complaint.
