NCLAT Refuses to Stay On CCI Penalty Orders Google To Pay 10 Percent Fine. The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has directed Google to pay 10 per cent of the Rs 1,337 crore fine imposed by the nation's fair trade regulator.
There have been complaints that US-based Google is abusing its dominance in India's Android mobile phone service market. The Competition Commission of India, which inquired into this, imposed a fine of Rs 1,337.76 crore on Google in October last year. A petition has been filed against this in the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal on behalf of Google.
The order passed yesterday by the two-member bench hearing the case said: We accept this petition for hearing. After hearing the other parties' arguments, an interim order can only be passed in haste.
The hearing of the case has been adjourned to February 13. The Competition Commission of India has been directed to file a reply in this case. The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal also ordered Google to pay 10% of the Rs 1,337.76 crore fine imposed by the Competition Commission of India.
