Microsoft Outage: Who Is Vincent? CrowdStrike Trending Video

The global tech outage caused by Microsoft affected numerous businesses, including airlines and banks. Amidst the situation, Vincent Flibustier made headlines by falsely claiming responsibility for the Microsoft shutdown through his X account stating himself as a "CrowdStrike's new employer".

Fake Crowdstrike Worker:

Vincent Flibustier, a Trainer and teacher in digital communication consultant, tricked people into believing he was the one behind the massive Microsoft shut down. 

Vincent, presenting himself as a Crowdstrike employee, posted an AI-generated image from the company, claiming he caused the outage with a minor update and even bragged about taking the afternoon off. by quoting,  "First day at Crowdstrike, pushed a little update and taking the afternoon off"

Vincent also mentioned that Crowdstrike called him and fired him for causing a Microsoft Outage and he mentioned that as "Totally Unfair" done for him. His story quickly went viral, gaining millions of views and widespread belief before he revealed the prank.

AI-Generated Photo:

In a follow-up video, he captioned, "How I broke the internet today and what lessons can we learn from it? Crowdstrike", admitted the photo was fake. The photo is Crowdstrike company is photoshopped and he also points out the small flaw in the edit.

Vincent continues the video, emphasizing the dangers of blindly accepting information without verification, stating, "When we really want to believe in something, a whole lot of our critical thinking disappears."

Microsoft Outage:

On Friday, Microsoft systems worldwide experienced a widespread crash due to a flaw in an update released by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike for its "Falcon Sensor" software. 

This update triggered a logic error, resulting in widespread crashes making the screen go blue which is known as the "Blue Screen of Death". The global tech outage stopped operations across various sectors including airports, airlines, banks, media outlets, and healthcare.

Reason For Microsoft Outage: 

The actual cause of the outage, as clarified by CrowdStrike, originated from a misconfigured update to their Falcon Sensor software deployed on Windows systems. 

Crowdstrike on July 19 updated this on their X page, "CrowdStrike released a sensor configuration update to Windows systems. Sensor configuration updates are an ongoing part of the protection mechanisms of the Falcon platform. This configuration update triggered a logic error resulting in a system crash and blue screen (BSOD) on impacted systems."

Microsoft acknowledged the issue through its official channels, assuring users they were working with CrowdStrike and industry partners to resolve the problem swiftly. Their joint efforts aimed to provide technical guidance and support to restore affected systems worldwide.
