Due to heavy rainfall affecting Chennai and surrounding areas, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin visited several flood-prone regions to assess the situation on October 15.

Tamil Nadu is now bracing for more heavy rainy weather and potential waterlogging. In addition, a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a depression by October 17. This is expected to bring additional rainfall to north Tamil Nadu and neighboring regions.

In this situation, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin visited the State Emergency Operations Centre in Chennai, where he reviewed the rainfall data and the response efforts in various parts of Tamil Nadu.

He also toured Narayanapuram Lake and areas within his Chepauk-Tiruvallikeni Assembly constituency. During his visit, he interacted with conservancy workers on the ground, acknowledging their efforts in managing the immediate crisis.

Later, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, accompanied by Ministers K.N. Nehru, P.K. Sekarbabu, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, and other officials, conducted an on-ground inspection of rain-affected areas, including Elephant Gate. The team also moved to other flood-affected regions to assess damage and coordination efforts for relief operations.

With more rainfall expected in the coming days, the state government has ramped up its preparedness, including mobilizing resources and coordinating with emergency teams.
