The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across six districts in Tamil Nadu, as a new low-pressure system forms over the Andaman Sea.

Low Pressure Formation:

The meteorological department has indicated that a new low-pressure area is expected to develop over the North Andaman Sea around October 20. This system is likely to intensify as it moves northwest. By October 22, a low-pressure system is expected to form over the Central Bay of Bengal, which could strengthen further as it progresses.

Heavy Rainfall Warning:

IMD also forecasts heavy rainfall at isolated locations of districts Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, and Erode on October 18. In addition, light to moderate rain is expected in a few places, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated locations across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Residents are advised to stay alert and monitor weather updates, as conditions may change rapidly with the impending low-pressure system.
