TN Weather Report: Heavy Rains In 15 Districts, Cyclone Alert

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for 15 districts across Tamil Nadu, with wet weather expected due to two cyclonic systems in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. 

Cyclonic Circulations:

A new cyclonic circulation is formed over the Bay of Bengal on October 12 and is expected to be rising across the state until October 16. Meanwhile, a cyclone in the Arabian Sea is expected to intensify into a depression over the next 2-3 days, further contributing to the wet conditions in Tamil Nadu.

Heavy Rainfall:

As the Northeast Monsoon approaches, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to occur across the state, with waterlogging and cooler temperatures expected.

As of today, heavy rain is expected in isolated locations in Dindigul, Karur, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Theni, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts.

According to the metrological department, moderate rainfall (up to 6 cm) is expected across most areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until October 16.

Chennai:

In Chennai, the sky is partly cloudy today, with moderate rain and thunderstorms expected in some areas. The temperature is likely to reach a maximum of 32°C and a minimum of 25°C, with occasional lightning adding to the stormy conditions.

Coimbatore:

In Coimbatore, the weather is also partly cloudy, and there’s a possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorms throughout the day. The maximum temperature of 31°C, while the minimum of 23°C.
