Tamil Nadu Weather Report: Heavy Rain Warning Issued By CMD

This summer has left the people of Tamil Nadu more exhausted than usual. The scorching heat has persisted for over a month, and heavy summer rains have been falling for the past few weeks. At the same time, heavy rain is falling in many places in Tamil Nadu.

In a notification issued yesterday (23.05.2024) on behalf of the India Meteorological Department, it was announced that the low-pressure area prevailing in the Bay of Bengal had strengthened into a deep pressure area around 08.30 am yesterday.

This deep depression is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area on May 24 (today) evening. Additionally, the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal may intensify into a storm on May 25 (tomorrow). It has been reported that this storm will move northwards and strengthen into a severe storm near Bangladesh on the evening of the May 26th (Sunday).

Tamil Nadu Rains:

In a notification issued today (24.05.2024) on behalf of the Chennai Meteorological Department, it has been forecasted that light to moderate rain at a few places with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal area. Heavy rain is likely to occur in isolated places over the Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts.

Heavy Rainfall Warning:

Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over the Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts. In Coimbatore, the morning began with drizzles, and the climate is moderate. 

Thunderstorm Warning:

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal areas.
