TN Weather Report: 11 Subway Closed, Traffic Disruption In Chennai

Eleven subways in Chennai has been submerged due to heavy rains in Chennai. The Public Works Department has decided to release 3000 cubic feet of water from Sembarambakkam Lake. 

Due to the heavy rains in Chennai and its environs, the water level in Sembarambakkam Lake is increasing. As a precautionary measure, 500 cubic feet of surplus water was discharged from Sembarambakkam Lake in the last few days.

A Red Alert has been issued for Chennai, Tiruvallur, Salem, Vellore, Tirupati, Kallakurichi, Ranipettai and Thiruvannamalai districts due to the depression. The public is requested not to go out of the home for unnecessary purposes.

Traffic has been diverted at various places in Chennai due to continuous heavy rains. Similarly, the Chennai Corporation administration has announced that 11 Subways have been closed due to stagnant water. For the last two days, rainwater drainage works have been carried out in Chennai. Traffic has been affected on the following roads due to stagnant rainwater. 

Traffic has been disrupted on the following roads due to water clearance. KK Nagar - Raja Mannar Road, Mylapore - Dr Sivasamy Road, EVR Road - From Gandhi Irwin Junction to Dr Nair Bridge, Sembiyam - Jawahar Nagar, Peravallur - 70 ft road, Puliyanthoppu - Dr Ambedkar Road, Puliyanthoppu Highway, Perambur Forex Road and Vyasarpadi - Mullai Nagar Bridge.
