TN Weather: Coimbatore and 10 Districts On Heavy Rainfall Alert

The Meteorological Department announced a heavy rainfall alert for 11 districts across Tamil Nadu. Due to this, Schools and Colleges were closed in Tirupur and Coimbatore districts.
Heavy Rainfall Alert:
Many districts across Tamilnadu including like Coimbatore, Nilgiris and Dindigul experienced heavy rainfall on October 22 nights resultng in cold weather and waterlogged roads.
In addition, according to the meteorological department, heavy rainfall is predicted to occur in 11 districts of Tamil Nadu on October 22. The heavy rainfall alerted areas are Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Tirupattur.
Coimbatore Rains:
On October 22, the city of Coimbatore was hit by heavy rainfall, leading to widespread waterlogging on the roads. Due to this, two cars were swept away in a flood near Karamadai. Coimbatore received downpours, with 9 cm of rainfall recorded.
In response to the rough weather, the district collectors have declared a holiday for schools and colleges in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts on October 23. The skies in Coimbatore remain cloudy, with temperatures ranging from a low of 21.0°C to a high of 32.0°C.
Elsewhere, Dindigul and Nilgiris each received 6 cm of rainfall, while Tirupur reported 5 cm, as per the latest updates from the Chennai Meteorological Department.
Cyclone Dana:
A low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal, Middle East, is moving northwest and has developed into a storm named 'Dana'. It is expected to cross the Odisha-West Bengal coast between Puri and Sagar Islands on October 24 night.
