In today's world, it has become challenging to distinguish between what is authentic and what is not. Though AI has numerous benefits, it has also made people more vulnerable to scams.
Cyber Crime Department Warning:
The Cyber Crime Branch of Tamil Nadu has issued a warning to the public, advising them to be cautious of individuals who request assistance, even if they are family or friends.

AI Scams Via Voice Call:
It has come to our attention that scammers are using AI tools to impersonate family members or friends and asking for money due to a supposed emergency. They may use cloned voices to make the calls seem genuine.
These scammers have also been known to use video calls with cloned faces to further deceive people. Therefore, it is important to be cautious when receiving such calls and verify the identity of the caller before transferring any money.
The Cyber Crime Branch advises people to avoid answering calls from unknown numbers and to report any instances of scamming by AI scammers to the police.
