Tamil Nadu Lockdown: Restrictions And Permissions From May 10

Tamil Nadu Government on Saturday announced a complete lockdown from May 10 to May 24 due to the hike of COVID positive cases in Tamil Nadu. The death cases are also increasing in recent days.

Since the complete lockdown is proposed from Monday, The government set the state to function on May 9 (Sunday). Even during the two weeks of lockdown, the people can access the shops during Saturdays and  Sundays to buy the necessities. 

The COVID positive cases are getting high as the spread keeping getting wide. In the last 24 hours, 26,465 fresh cases are lodged in the state, with a death count of 197. The new restriction is expected to show better results by decreasing the cases.

The following are the new restrictions that are to be handled during the complete lockdown. Few limits are already on access, and few are altered.

• The ban will continue as the federal government has extended the ban on international flights, except for routes allowed by the Union Home Ministry.
• The e-Registration system will continue to be implemented to keep track of passengers arriving by air and rail from abroad and other states. 
• Big format shops and shopping malls (Shopping Complex & Malls) with an area of ​​3000 square feet and above have already been banned from 26.04.2021.
• Grocery stores and grocery stores operating in shopping malls have already been banned. Apart from these, only stalls selling groceries, groceries, vegetables, meat, and fish are allowed to work till noon without a refrigeration facility. Of these, only 50 percent of customers should be allowed at a time.
• Distribution of groceries, groceries, vegetables, meat, and fish through e-commerce companies such as Dunzo will be allowed until 12.00 noon. Except for the above grocery, grocery, vegetable, meat, and fish shops, all other shops are prohibited from opening.
• Tasmac stores will not be open during the entire curfew. All restaurants will only be allowed to provide parcel service. 
• Tea shops will only be allowed to operate until 12 noon. Sitting and eating in restaurants and tea shops is not allowed. Customers staying in hotels are required to serve food in the rooms where they stay. It is not permitted to sit and eat in restaurants.
• Hostels are not allowed to operate. However, hostels will only be allowed to run for clients staying for business reasons and for medical purposes only.
• Indoor auditoriums and open spaces are prohibited for the community, political, sports, entertainment, educational, cultural events, and other events. As already announced, no more than 20 people are allowed at funerals and related ceremonies.
• Shops selling pesticides, fertilizers, seeds, and cattle fodder required for agricultural production will be allowed to operate from 6.00 am to 12.00 noon.
• During the days of complete curfew, only parcel service is allowed in restaurants from 6.00 am to 10.00 am, from 12.00 noon to 3.00 pm, and from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm.
• Food delivery companies such as Swiggy and Zomato are only allowed to operate during the above hours. Roadside restaurants will not be allowed.
• Pedestrian stalls selling vegetables and flowers will be allowed until noon.
• Volunteers, seniors, people with disabilities, and service providers for the sick are allowed to come with ID cards/documents issued by related companies.
• The media and journalism departments can continue to work.
• Government Order No. 348, listed by the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, dated 20.4.2021, only permits the operation of continuous operation factories and essential goods manufacturing factories which are required to operate without hindrance. Employees/officers working in these factories are allowed to travel in buses or personal vehicles provided by these companies with the identity card issued by these companies.
• There is no restriction on the conduct and participation of marriage and marriage-related events (attendance not exceeding 50 persons) and death-related events (attendance not exceeding 20 persons) with already published restrictions.
• Data Centers will be allowed to carry out IT infrastructure work for maintenance work, medical, finance, banking, transportation, and other essential functions.
• Ongoing construction work will be allowed.
• Ration Shops will be open from 8.00 am to 12.00 noon.
• Parks, zoos, and archeological protected monuments, excavations, and museums are not open to the public all day.
• In all coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, on all days, the public is not allowed.
• Schools, colleges, universities, government and private training institutes, summer camps are not allowed to operate.
• Swimming pools, sports training associations/groups are not allowed to operate.

These restrictions will tighten the daily life of the public but it is a safety method to fight against the COVID 19. Strict Punishments will be imposed on those who don't follow the restrictions.
