Tamil Nadu Coronavirus Update: 805 new infected cases and 2 Death Reported

Excerpts from health minister's speech on coronavirus
Tamil Nadu, every day, increases its infection cases to now cross the 17,082 today, May 25, along with seven deaths to increase its tally to 118. Health minister Dr. Vijaya Baskar says that the rise is only because of the incoming Tamil people from other states and an increased number of tests. In the last 24 hours, 805 new infected cases have been reported in Tamil Nadu, out of which 549 are from Chennai to increase the infected cases to cross 11,000.
Chennai the hotspot of Tamil Nadu
Though the rise in the number of cases was steadily increasing right from the lockdown in March, in the last week, when many relaxations announced, it is at a rapid pace. Chennai is the most affected district, with nearly 70 % of the infected cases in Tamil Nadu. There are more than 1,100 containment zones in Chennai now, and a few zones are the most affected in it. Though TASMAC shops are not opened in Chennai, many industrial units with limited capacities have started to function from today.
Excerpts of health minister speech to media
Today the health minister explained to the media about the efforts taken by the chief minister and the government in successfully tackling the corona crisis in Tamil Nadu that include
- A total of 805 positive cases across the state and 549 in Chennai alone
- 93 persons returning from other states to Tamil Nadu tested positive today at the border checkpoints
- Out of the 93, 87 persons were from Maharashtra, four from Gujarat and one from Kerala and Andhra Pradesh
- Tamil Nadu health department has the credit of conducting maximum tests than any other state with 11,835 tests today totaling to 4,21,480 so far
- There are a total of 68 test centers that include both government and private test centers
- Total discharged persons today 407 adding to 8,731
- Two persons died in a private hospital and five in government hospitals totaling the deaths to 118 persons
- New challenges to the existing crisis that Tamil Nadu face is the people coming back by train, bus, flights, and others
- A total of 942 people from other states have tested positive of which 726 are from Maharashtra
- With domestic flights started functioning today, the chief minister requested the central government to do it in a phased manner
- Only 25 flights can arrive in Chennai as per the chief minister's efforts, convincing the central government but can send any number of flights
- All precautions will be taken for the incoming passengers including thermal screening, while those found with the infection will be stamped on the hand
- Even if they are asymptomatic, they will be quarantined for 14 days
