Another commotion arose at the Kilambakkam bus terminus, and the passengers staged a road blockade. An incident at the Kilambakkam bus terminus has created a commotion due to an insufficient number of buses plying to the southern districts.
Kilambakkam Bus Terminal, built to control the traffic congestion caused by buses within the city of Chennai and for the convenience of passengers going to the southern districts, came into use in January.
Although the Kilambakkam bus terminus is built lavishly, there have been many complaints from the passengers since day 1. On every occasion, there are commotions and criticisms from the passenger side.
The main drawback of the Kilambakkam bus terminus is that there is no other way to reach this bus terminal except city buses. It takes at least 1 hour to 1.30 hours for a person working in Vadapalani to reach Kilambakkam bus terminus.
Since it's a weekend, commuters flocked to Kilambakkam bus terminus last night to go home. However, there were not enough buses to go to the southern districts, so they staged a road blockade on the GST road. Due to this, there was a traffic jam on this road for about 1 hour.
More than 100 policemen led by Guduvancheri Commodity Deputy Commissioner Jayaraj, who came to know about this, held talks with the public. Then, there was a slight scuffle between the police and the public. Subsequently, the protest was called off after about 2 hours.
