Tamilnadu and Puducherry will receive heavy rainfall; CM, Edappadi K.Palaniswami, urges Collectors to take precautions.
Chennai: Regional Meteorological Center has predicted continuous heavy rainfall in coastal regions of Tamilnadu and Puducherry for the next three days as a part of Northeast Monsoon.
Tamilnadu and Pondicherry mark 11cm of rain since the commencement of Northeast monsoon -Balachandran, Director of Regional Metrological Department.
As a low-pressure prevails over the Bay of Bengal and Arabian sea, fishers are advised not to go fishing, specifically between October 21 and 22.
As per the forecast, Kuzhithurai in Kanyakumari district and Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore district have received the highest rainfall of 14 cm, and 12cm respectively. Also, the RMC sent a warning to districts such as Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Ramanathapuram, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, and Tirunelveli as they are likely to receive extreme rainfall in the next two days.
The hill regions of the Western Ghats districts like Nilgiris, Theni, Dindigul, Covai have the proximity of hefty rainfall on October 22, stated the Chennai metrology department. Also, the delta regions of Salem, Erode, Tirupur, Madurai, Theni might receive heavy rain.
Meanwhile, Tamilnadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K.Palaniswami, urges the district collectors to take precautions for the heavy rain. He advised the collectors to ensure and report the level of dams in their respective districts. The CM also instructed to shift and shelter the people of low-lying areas.
RMC Director, Balachandran, reasoned the Atmospheric circulation of clouds from Andhra Pradesh to Tamilnadu is the reason for continuous rainfall in the coastal areas of the state.
The season’s dense rainfall districts of Coimbatore and Kanyakumari declared today as a holiday for the schools. However, the leave may extend in those regions due to the possible extremity of rain forecasted by the metrological department.
