Salem Woman Faces Rape Attempt In Street, Caught In CCTV Camera

In Salem, a shocking incident unfolded on the morning of July 17 in Mannarpalayam, where a man attempted to rape a woman on the streets. This incident captured on CCTV footage, has shocked the locals of the area.

CCTV Footage:

The CCTV video footage reveals the woman walking down the street, unaware of the approaching of the man. The man, coming from the opposite direction, violently pushed her to the ground and attempted to sexually harass her in the streets despite her protests.

After observing that locals were arriving, the man abruptly left the woman and fled the scene. This shocking incident happened in broad daylight, right on the streets, leaving the community stunned. The victim filed a case against him in Veeranam police.

Police Arrest:

The police identified the accused as Kannan from Allikuttai near Mannarpalayam, who has a history of substance abuse involving weed and alcohol. 

He has previously sexually harassed elderly women in his neighbourhood. After a period of rehabilitation, Kannan remained clean for two years before committing the attempted rape the woman.

Police arrested the accused, Kannan and are now making decisions with authorities about whether to send him to prison or a mental health centre. In this case, recently the CCTV footage released on social media created a lot of public outrage.
