447 New Coronavirus Positive Cases in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu is now in the second position, only next to Maharashtra, with 9674 infected cases. However, yesterday, May 14, for the first time in 10 days, the number of infected cases was less than 500. Yesterday 447 news cases were reported, out of which 363 are from Chennai city alone.  Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy congratulated all the officials yesterday during his video conferencing with the district collectors for their support against fighting coronavirus.  

Tamil Nadu TASMAC - Wineshop Opening Case

The Madras High Court had said yesterday that peoples' lives are more important than income from the people. Hearing the petitions against the opening of the TASMAC shops, they wanted the government to file their counter, and the hearing will continue today, May 15.

During the arguments, the government counsel has said that the court violations happened only in a few wine shops while others followed them strictly. The bench comprising chief judge A P Sahe, Vineeth  Kothari, and P N Prakash said how then the government was able to collect more than Rs. One hundred seventy crores and posted the matter today as the only TASMAC has filed a counter to the petitions.

Will Govt Bus service Resume after Lockdown 3?

While the central government has canceled all the reservations of trains until June end, there are expectations of at least the bus services to resume after the end of lockdown 3.0. But with prime minister indicated in his speech to the nation recently about continuing lockdown 4.0 with different relaxations.

There is no confirmed official information on the buses plying again even after 50 days of lockdown. Some officials of the transport department have asked the people to call 044-24794709 to register their names with urgency details to get preference on the buses to other states as soon as the service starts.  

Arrangements to Exam going Students in Tamil Nadu

The tenth board exams are to start on June 1. Without trains and buses, how will the students in rural areas attend exams is the big question now.  The chief minister has ordered all the district collectors to take necessary steps to ensure that students write the exams. It is currently not only the parents' worry for the more than 50 days lockdown to continue further. But also of the students in Tamil Nadu whether they will be able to write the exams or not.
