Chennai: MTC Seeks Contract Drivers and Conductors

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation Ltd has issued tenders for the operation of government buses. The call for tenders is specifically for contract positions for drivers and conductors. The deadline for submitting the contracts is August 28, and the bids will also be submitted on that date.

However, the initiative has faced significant opposition from various quarters. Critics argue that employing contract drivers and conductors could potentially increase the risk of accidents. An independent news channel reported that the Transport Association has also strongly disapproved of the concept, expressing concerns about its safety.

Despite the opposition, preparations have already begun in Tirunelveli, and similar steps are underway in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, to facilitate the MTC tender for contract drivers and conductors.
