IMD Issues Cyclone Warning: Rains Expected in Tamil Nadu

The Indian Meteorological Department released a press release predicting the cyclonic winds travel in the Bay of Bengal. A low-pressure area has developed over the Central West and Northwest Bay of Bengal, influenced by atmospheric circulation from North Andhra Pradesh Rains and the adjoining coastal areas.

The low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal has resulted in rain in certain parts of Tamil Nadu, with dry conditions expected to continue in Puducherry and Karaikal.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecasted that light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, may occur at isolated locations across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Cyclonic Winds:

As of September 6, fishermen are advised to exercise caution due to cyclonic winds expected in several regions. Over the Gulf of Mannar, Southeast coastal areas, and the adjoining Kumari Sea, cyclonic winds are anticipated to reach speeds of 45-55 km/h with gusts up to 65 km/h.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the Southwest Bay of Bengal off the Northeast coast will experience cyclonic winds of 35-45 km/h, with periodic gusts reaching 55 km/h on September 7.

From September 8 to 9, in the Central and South Bay of Bengal, cyclonic winds of 45-55 km/h with occasional gusts of 65 km/h are forecasted, along with winds of 35-45 km/h and intermittent gusts of 55 km/h over North Andhra Pradesh and the Andaman Sea.

Arabian Sea:

Additionally, the Arabian Sea will see cyclonic winds of 45-55 km/h and occasional gusts up to 65 km/h over its western and South-Western parts, with winds of 35-45 km/h and gusts up to 55 km/h in the adjacent Middle East Arabian Sea. Fishermen are advised to avoid these areas during the specified period.

Chennai:

In Chennai, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy with light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some areas. The maximum temperature is forecasted to be between 35-36°C, while the minimum temperature will range from 27-28°C.

Coimbatore:

Coimbatore will also see partly cloudy skies with a possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorms. The temperatures in Coimbatore are expected to range from a maximum of 34°C to a minimum of 23°C.
