Erode East Bypolls 2023: 77 Candidates Are In The Field

While the by-election campaign for Erode East assembly constituency was suspended yesterday, the polling started at 7 am today. 

Voters have eagerly stood in long queues since morning to cast their votes. In this constituency, 77 candidates are in the field, including Congress, AIADMK, DMD, Naam Tamilar and other parties and independents.

People have started casting their votes on the symbols of their favourite candidates. Strong security arrangements have been made to prevent accidents. Erode District Election Officer H. Krishnan Unni said that five voting machines were found to be faulty during the sample polling, and voting started by installing new machines.
