Anti-corruption officials have raided the house of SP Velumani, who was the former Minister during the AIADMK regime. Anti-corruption officials have raided more than 52 places owned by SP Velumani.

Various allegations were made against him that he had cheated in the tender related to the corporation's work. Following this, the Tamil Nadu government had said in the Chennai High Court that it would hold an inquiry into the tender malpractice complaints against Velumani.
Following this, at 7 in the morning, five policemen led by the Anti-Corruption DSP raided the company and conducted a search. The panchayat leader from the area was also summoned and questioned in this regard.
A complaint was lodged with the Anti-Corruption Police last month alleging that former minister Velumani had embezzled crores of rupees from various projects in Coimbatore and that an inquiry should be held into the matter.
The Anti-Corruption Department had also registered a case against 17 people, including SP Velumani, for allegedly abusing their position when they were a minister. According to the first information report released by the Anti-Corruption Department, he has embezzled Rs 464 crore from the Chennai Corporation contract and Rs 346 crore from the Coimbatore Corporation contract.
AIADMK volunteers had gathered in front of SB Velumani's house when they came to know that anti-corruption officers were conducting a search at his house. This incident has bought a stir in the locality.
