A startling incident has come to light in Coimbatore where a mother and her daughter have reportedly spent 10 years confined to their apartment without leaving their house. This incident shocked the residents and created a buzz around the area, prompting widespread concern.
The two women, aged 65 and 45, have apparently not left their residence in the private Apartments for over ten years. During this time, they failed basic household maintenance, including disposing of garbage, resulting in an unhealthy living environment. They resorted to consuming expired food and contaminated water, even sometimes ordering online food deliveries.
The incident came to public attention after some sensed a bad odor from the apartments and it is said that a social worker visited their house, recorded video, and reported it to the corporation.
A video recorded by a concerned visitor reveals the apartment is severely unstable for living with stockpiled waste in their house which causes a serious health risk. In the video, the 35-year-old woman mentioned that they needed help to remove the garbage from the Athulya apartments.
People are expecting the government to take necessary actions about their living conditions and give both the mother and daughter psychological treatment as they stayed inside the house for past decade.
