Heavy rains in Coimbatore have led to the creation of a pool on the Periyanaickenpalayam Bridge, causing traffic disruptions in the area. The bridge that connects the way from Coimbatore to Periyanaickenpalayam and Nilgiris has created a pool with rainwater which caused a lot of traffic in the area.
Periyanaickenpalayam Bridge Issue:
Coimbatore has witnessed heavy rainfall in the past few days. In this situation, a bridge that connects the way from Coimbatore to Periyanaickenpalayam and Nilgiris is covered with rainwater. The water in the road looks like a small pond and people are struggling to travel from one place to another with traffic and water blocking the way.
During the start of May, like in other districts, Coimbatore people also suffered from hot weather. In this case, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has predicted heavy rains in seven districts of Tamil Nadu on May 7 including Coimbatore.
Area People Complaints:
Coimbatore faces heavy rainfall in some areas including the Periyanaickenpalayam. There are constant complaints from the public reporting the bridge conditions that create traffic. Annoyed by the constant traffic and little pool of water in the bridge, the people blame the bridge construction for the lack of water filtering ability.
The 115 Crore Bridge:
The high-level bridge was constructed for 115 crore rupees at Periyanayakanpalayam for a distance of about one kilometer from the LMW section to the Veerapandi section to avoid traffic congestion. There are residents at the end of the bridge who are not ready to move out which was also one of the main causes for the frequent accidents in the area. They point out the 115-crore bridge was built with no responsibility as they are narrow and have no draining ability.
In this case, summer rains have been falling in Karamadai and Periyanayakanpalayam areas for a couple of days. As much as people love to enjoy Summer rain, rainwater stagnant on the bridge brings discomfort to these people living in the area. The water formed a pool in the bridge is going viral on social media
