Coimbatore Fire Accident: 3 Lorry Drivers Killed, 4 Injured

Coimbatore Fire Accident

Three lorry drivers lost their lives in a house fire in Muthugoundanur around midnight, while four others sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Coimbatore Government Hospital. This incident shocked the locals and created a lot of buzz in the surrounding.

Lorry Divers:

Alaguraja, a lorry driver, resided in a rented house in Muthugoundanur along with six other lorry drivers Muthu Kumar, Chinna Karupu, Dinesh, Veeramani, Manoj, and Pandiesherwaran. They transported petrol and gasoline from Irugur to other places as part of their job.

In this situation, sometimes they store excess petrol at their residence for their use and sell it at lower prices. On the night of the incident, they had approximately 20 liters of petrol stored.

Reason Behind The Incident:

Earlier, Alaguraja was involved in a fatal accident where his lorry struck and killed a school teacher near Irugur. Following investigations at the Singanallur police station, he was released on self-bail yesterday with instructions to return the following morning for further proceedings at the Police Station.

The House Fire:

Alaguraja and his friends consumed alcohol and talked about the accident and police orders. However, influenced by alcohol and distressed about the accident and police proceedings, Alaguraja tragically poured petrol on himself and walked towards the kitchen where Pandiesherwaran was cooking.

Ignoring the requests of his friends, he walked into the flames, while throwing the can which spread on the other person, resulting in a huge house fire.

Witnessing the fire breakthrough, neighbours were rushed to help and informed the fire department also rushed to help them. Despite their attempt, along with Alaguraja two others died, and four others were severely injured and admitted to the Coimbatore Government hospital.

Reason Behind the Coimbatore Fire Accident:

Assumption 1:

Alaguraja, one of the residents, reportedly opened a fuel container to transfer the fuel to a smaller vessel for a motorcycle. Unfortunately, a fire broke out in a gas stove near the fuel container, causing the entire house to catch fire. All seven present in the house suffered serious injuries in the incident.

Assumption 2:

Another assumption is that influenced by alcohol and distress about the accident he was involved in and police proceedings, Alaguraja tragically poured petrol on himself and walked towards the kitchen where Pandiesherwaran was cooking. Despite the pleas of his friends, he walked into the flames, throwing the can which spread the fire to the other person, resulting in a large house fire.

The House Fire:

Seeing the fire breakthrough, neighbors rushed to help and informed the fire department who also immediately ran to help them. Despite their attempt, Alaguraja, Chinnakaruppu, and Muthukumar died on the spot, and four others were severely injured and admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital (CMCH).Only when they are recovered the exact reason behind this tragic accident will be known.
