Coimbatore Comes to Normal Life After A Day of Self Isolation

Covai is back to normal today, March 23, after yesterday's test run of self-isolation curfew thoroughly followed by the people. Except for some closed hotels, many commercial and other establishments are functioning normally in Coimbatore now. But the closed Kerala borders remain without any passage of vehicles except for essential ones. There is also above the regular crowd at the Gandhipuram bus stand where people are boarding buses to go back to their native places.
Today morning the Indian stock markets continued their blood bath with the 10 % down circuit filter hit within 45 minutes of trading. In other words, another nearly 3000 points are eroded from the Sensex. It is in cue with the global trends where trillions of dollars are going away from the stock values. The rapid rise of coronavirus is unabated around the world and in India.
Coimbatore is one of the sensitive cities in Tamil Nadu, with its neighboring Kerala having many numbers of coronavirus cases. Apart from it, there is this fear of bird flu additionally from Kerala, which forced the collector Rajamani to close all its eight ways connecting to Kerala. Also, as per the orders of the state and central governments, all theaters, malls, and big shops remain closed even today.
Being one of the industrial cities and with Tirupur nearby, Coimbatore is feared to be locked down when there is a rapid rise of coronavirus in Tamil Nadu. Already rumors of Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Erode to come under lockdown like Delhi, Coimbatore also may follow suit. In the case of a lockdown, except for the essential food, provision, vegetables and medicine shops, everything else will be shut down.
Since this week will be crucial for coronavirus infection in India to not go to the community infection stage 3, all need to stay home except for emergency purposes.
