Mahavishnu Speech In Chennai Government School Fuel Controversy

In Chennai, a spiritual speaker, Mahavishnu, delivered a speech at a government school that created controversy as he discussed spiritual topics such as Karma, Rebirth, and Sin. However, his speech faced opposition from a school teacher, and the argument was captured in a video that went viral on social media.

Who Is Spiritual Speaker Mahavishnu?

Mahavishnu, the spiritual speaker, is known for his work with the Paramporul Foundation, a charitable organization. He was invited to give a speech at government schools in the Ashok Nagar and Saidapet areas of Chennai. During such a speech, he gave the students a speech entitled "Moments of Self-Realization," which touched on spiritual concepts and traditional beliefs.

Teacher Vs. Mahavishnu:

During his talk, Mahavishnu made several controversial statements, including, 

• "You are born in this life based on the sins you committed in your previous life. That’s why some people are born wealthy while others are born poor."
• "There were once over 300,000 Gurukulas in our country. All were destroyed. If you chant a mantra, fire will rain. If you recite a mantra, you can fly. All the mantras were written on palm leaves."

A teacher interrupted, questioning the relevance of such spiritual content in a school setting. "Is this a spiritual discourse? You are talking about karma. What is going on here?" the teacher protested.

Mahavishnu responded defensively, arguing, "How can you teach someone how to live without discussing virtues and sins? If you didn’t want me to speak, you shouldn't have invited me. Why are you here to argue?" He then scolded the teacher for challenging him.

School Spiritual Talk Controversy:

The video of the argument quickly spread online, sparking a debate. Some supported Mahavishnu, asserting that he was invited by the school and had a right to speak. 

Others criticized the Department of Education for permitting a program that seemed to promote superstition over science. The incident sparked online debate as it happened in the capital of Tamil Nadu Chennai.

Anbil Mahesh Educational Minister Response:

In response, the Indian Students Union staged a protest at the Ashok Nagar School. School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh addressed the protesters and assured them that action would be taken against those responsible for the oversight.

CM Stalin’s Response:

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed the issue on his social media account, stating, “The best scientific ideas that our students need are included in our high-quality textbooks. Teachers can extract and impart these ideas to help students face future challenges with confidence. 

I have decreed that new guidelines will be formulated to regulate school programs, ensuring that our students receive progressive and scientific education.

Individual progress, ethical living, and sound ideas for social development should be instilled in students. Over the past three years, I have consistently emphasized the importance of scientific thinking and education. Science is the key to progress!”
