Aruna Jagadeesan Inquiry Into The Thoothukudi Firing Incident

Chief Minister Stalin has said that four policemen accused in the Tuticorin shooting incident have been dismissed, and disciplinary action will be taken against the former Collector, top police officers and police officers. 

Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has announced that an additional Rs 5 lakh will be given to the families of those who died in the Thoothukudi firing. 13 people were killed in violence and firing by the police. At the same time, the protest held on May 22, 2018, to shut down the operating Sterlite plant in Thoothukudi ended in violence. More than a hundred people were injured. 

In this case, an inquiry was ordered headed by High Court Judge Aruna Jagatheesan to inquire into the Thoothukudi shooting incident. Justice Aruna Jagatheesan's inquiry committee submitted its 3000-page report to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 18. It contains recommendations regarding the Thoothukudi firing and the steps to be taken.

Chief Minister Stalin responded to the debate on the Aruna Jagadeesan inquiry report on the Thoothukudi firing in the Assembly today. He said that the AIADMK government did not properly handle the Tuticorin Sterlite protest.

Eleven men and two women were shot dead, 40 were seriously injured, and 60 were slightly injured. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has said that 13 lives were lost due to the arrogance of the AIADMK government in the Thoothukudi firing incident.

Chief Minister M. K. Stalin also said that the Aruna Jagadeesan Commission set up in the AIADMK government has exposed the lie told by Edappadi Palaniswami.

Chief Minister Stalin said that an additional Rs 5 lakh would be given to the families of those who died in the Thoothukudi firing. The families of those killed in the firing have already been paid Rs 20 lakh each. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin also accused the AIADMK government of not providing jobs to the victims of the firing as per their educational qualifications.

Chief Minister Stalin said four policemen had been suspended in connection with the shooting incident, and disciplinary action would be taken against the former Collector, high-ranking police officers and police officers.
