TN Local elections: Additional time required Government of Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu government has announced that more time is needed to hold local elections in 9 districts. According to the Tamil Nadu government, a petition has been filed in the court seeking additional time.
The State Election Commission needs more time to complete the local body elections. The bill explains that additional officer posts will be created as more time is required.
The state election commissioner needs more time to carry out local government elections, the state government said in the Assembly. Thus, it has been announced that the tenure of individual officers in corporations, municipalities and boroughs in Tamil Nadu will be extended for another six months.
A bill to extend the term of office of a private officer until December 31 has been tabled in the legislature. Minister KN Nehru, K.R. Periyakaruppan introduced the bills in the Assembly. The statement explains that the term of office of the individual officer will be extended due to the need for additional time.
The tenure of individual officers in the newly formed nine district panchayats has also been extended for another six months. The Government of Tamil Nadu has taken this step as the term of office of the Private Officer expires on June 30.
The Supreme Court has ordered the local government elections to be held by September 15. The tenure of individual officers in corporations, municipalities and municipalities in Tamil Nadu has been extended for another six months.
The tenure of individual officers in the panchayats in the nine newly formed districts has also been extended by six months till December 31. The Government of Tamil Nadu has taken action as the term of the Private Officer expires on June 30. The Tamil Nadu government has also filed a petition in the court seeking additional time to hold local government elections in the nine newly formed districts. Voters and officials have been told the election date will be decided with security in mind without corona disruption.
