5 Including Child Died After Car-Lorry Accident In Cuddalore

Five people, including a three-year-old child from the same family killed in a head-on collision between a car and a lorry near Chidambaram, Cuddalore in the early hours of September 12. The victims were en route from Chennai to Mayiladuthurai district after visiting a hospitalized relative.
The Victims:
The victims of the car-lorry collision have been identified as A. Muhammad Anwar (56) from Nakkampadi, Kuthalam, Mayiladuthurai district, B. Shahida Begum (60) from the same village, M. Arafat Nisha (27) and her 3-year-old son, M. Adnan, from Thirumangalam, and S. Yasar Arafat (38) from Karuppur, near Kumbakonam in Tanjore district.
The Accident Details:
The five members from the same family had begun their return journey from Chennai late on September 11, with Yasar Arafat at the wheel. The accident occurred around 2 a.m. on the Villupuram-Nagapattinam highway, which is currently under construction.
The collision took place at the Anaiyankuppam flyover near Chidambaram when their car crashed into a lorry transporting soap from Chidambaram to Cuddalore.
Police Investigations:
As soon as the accident was reported, emergency services rushed to find the car severely damaged and all five occupants dead at the scene. The bodies were transported to the Government Hospital in Chidambaram for post-mortem.
The Parangipettai police have launched an investigation into the incident. They are currently searching for the lorry driver and cleaner, who fled the scene after the collision. Preliminary findings suggest that high speeds and the ongoing construction on the single-lane road may have contributed to the tragic accident. The damaged vehicles have since been removed from the highway.
The Parangipettai police have registered a case and are focusing on locating the individuals responsible. The investigation will determine if drowsy driving or other factors played a role in this accident.
