Child Pornography Issue in Tamil Nadu: 24-Years-Old Arrested for Watching Porn in Chennai

Chennai youth arrested for watching child pornography: Harish, a youth in Ambattur today, January 30, arrested for watching child pornography. He is now detained under the POCSO Act by the All Women Police in Ambattur. The arrest is in line with ADGP Ravi, saying that more than 600 cases for investigation are pending throughout the state.

Harish had been accused now of downloading and viewing child pornography for the past two years. On a tip-off, the All Women Police in Ambattur searched his smartphone. The tip-off is said to be from the NCRB or the National Crime Records Bureau. The CSAM or the child sex abuse material in his smartphone made him be arrested now under the POCSO or protection of child and sex offense act.

How police found that porn viewer?

The police confirm that he has visited more than 500 IP addresses of child porn sites and also downloaded many of them.  If proved of charges, he may have to spend a minimum of the next five years in prison. The sad part is this 24 years old graduate had said during investigation that he did not know watching child pornography is an offense.

Police get the tip-off from the IP address, mobile number, and many other sources about viewing CSAM and also details of to whom all it is shared after downloading. Already across the state, more than five have been arrested for downloading and watching child pornography. Now Harish joins the long list, and who all are next will come one day after the other soon.
