Why ISRO Sun Study Aditya L1 Cannot See Solar Eclipse 2024?

ISRO scientists have released information about the total solar eclipse 2024 that is happening today. When the Sun, Moon, and Earth come in a straight line, a solar eclipse will occur, and there will be darkness for about four minutes. It is reported that Aditya L1, designed by ISRO, is continuously studying the Sun but will not be able to observe the total solar eclipse.

Solar Eclipse 2024:

Solar and lunar eclipse events usually occur on a few days of the year. In that way, the total solar eclipse of this year is going to happen today.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. Scientists have said that today's eclipse will not be visible from India, and only three countries, the USA, Canada and Mexico, will be able to see the total solar eclipse.

Aditya L1 spacecraft And Solar Eclipse 2024:

India's Aditya L1 spacecraft, which was launched to study the Sun, is positioned at the perfect height to observe the Sun continuously for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. However, ISRO chief Somanath has informed that the spacecraft will not be able to observe the solar eclipse today as it is currently situated behind the lunar spacecraft.

ISRO Chairman S. Somanath said, "Aditya L1 spacecraft will not be able to see the solar eclipse, because the Moon is behind the spacecraft at Lagrange Point 1 (L1 point), the eclipse visible on Earth does not have much significance at that location."
