Seeman and NTK: From Trolls To Voting Growth In TN Politics

The Naam Tamilar Katchi, led by its coordinator Seeman, has been experiencing steady growth since 2010. In the recent 2024 Lok Sabha election, the political party saw an increase in its vote count, securing around 8.2 percent of the total votes. This significant percentage has elevated Naam Tamilar Katchi to the status of a state party.

NTK Growth And Success:

The NTK party in the Lok Sabha 2016 election gained 1 percent of the vote share in Tamil Nadu and then followed in the next Lok Sabha election in 2019 gained 4 percent of the vote share.

The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election occurred in 2021, and NTK came third with a 6.7 percent vote share. Following that this year, Naam Tamilar Katchi acquired approximately 8.2 percent vote share in the Lok Sabha 2024 election.

Naam Tamilar Katchi Origin:

The Naam Tamaliar Katchi was launched by Dina Thanthi (Tamil news publication) founder S. P. Adithanar in 1958. In 1967, the political party was joined as an ally with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and later the NTK emerged with DMK.

Seeman - Naam Tamilar Katchi:

Later, after the end of the Sri Lankan Civil War, Naam Tamliar Ktchi was formed by its coordinator, Senthamizhan Seeman, in 2010. NTK was said to be reformed in 2010 as a reaction to the huge Sri Lankan Civil War which happened between 1983 to 2009.

The war killed approximately 1,00,000 people, and the civil war mainly targeted Tamilians, and many Tamil people were killed in the war. The end of the Sri Lankan Civil War created emotional impacts on the Tamil people. 

Naam Tamilar Katchi Growth:

As Seeman founded the party during a critical period after the war, he delivered many inspirational speeches at his political gatherings, emphasizing pride in being a Tamilan. The Political Party name Naam Tamilar means 'We are Tamil Party' suggests its aim to focus on Tamil Pride, culture, and identity.

The NTK received gradual growth over the years and the main reason for the party is because of Seeman's inspirational speeches and his ideas.

Seeman Followers:

Seeman's impassioned speeches gained attention from the young voters and the party actively engaged and encouraged the youth to enter the politics.

In addition to that, Naam Tamilar Katchi in this Lok Sabha 2024 election held a huge meeting to select its candidates with good qualifications, and they mostly selected young and educated persons. The candidate list included Indian poacher and smuggler Veerapan's daughter Vidya Rani.

The NTK party has gained a significant following, and Seeman is capturing the attention of the young generation, which has become a major advantage for his party.

Amidst all the support, the NTK party also received criticism from other political parties and people. He has been a meme material for the meme creators but still he is liked by many youngsters.

Once Seeman said, "I have more love for people who criticize me more than that for NTK cadres. Even the cadres in the party don't think about me as much as the trolls. Every day when they put out derogatory remarks about me (on social media) on regular intervals. The trolls think about me 24*7."

Even with the negativity surrounding him, Seeman had gained a good amount of vote share in the Lok Sabha 2024 election making the NTK not only a state party but also a major political party in Tamil Nadu.
