Kerala Man Stuck in Govt Hospital Lift for 2 Days Rescued Today

Kerala Man Stuck in Lift

A 59-year-old man was stuck in the hospital lift for two days in Kerala. He was rescued on Monday morning after the lift was operated for routine work.

The incident involved Ravindran Nair, a 59-year-old resident of Ulloor, trapped inside the malfunctioning lift of the OP Block of the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College.

Ravindran Nair visited the hospital for a checkup on Saturday and unfortunately became trapped in the malfunctioning lift while trying to reach the first floor.

Despite his attempts to seek help using the lift's internal phone and alarm system, no assistance arrived. His mobile phone, which could have been an alternative means of communication, was switched off after falling and breaking during the incident.

The situation only came to light on Monday morning when the lift operator resumed duties and discovered Ravindran still stuck inside unconscious in the lift.

The family did not immediately suspect an issue as they assumed he had left for work or extended his stay, and then later got worried over his absence. The family filed a missing persons report with the medical college police on Sunday night.

Reacting to this distressing incident, Health Minister Veena George has instructed the director of the Medical Education Department to conduct a thorough investigation. This unfortunate occurrence brings to the forefront the urgent need for stringent measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
