Assam Girl Missing: Search For The Teen Intensified In Chennai

Assamese Girl Missing

In Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, a 13-year-old girl from Assam, Tasmeeth Tamsam, has been reported missing following a fight with her mother on August 20. The girl was last seen crying aboard a train bound for Kanyakumari.

Assam Missing Girl:

Tasmeeth, who speaks only Assamese, had been residing with her family in a rented house near the Kazhakkoottam block office for about a month. Her parents reported her missing to the police at 4 p.m. on the same day, leading to an immediate search operation that included reviewing CCTV footage.

Reason Behind The Assam Girl Missing:

The Assamese girl left the house after an argument with her mother. The girl fought with her younger sibling around 8 a.m. when her parents were away. Upon returning home around 9:45 a.m., her mother scolded her, and Tasmeeth is believed to have left the house shortly afterward. She took with her a bag containing clothes and approximately Rs 50.

Assam Girl Spotted:

Considering the girl was from Assam, they were suspensions the girl might be returned to Assam. In this case, a passenger on the Bengaluru-Kanyakumari Express, who spotted the girl crying, took a photograph and contacted the police after seeing her image in the news.

The passenger reported that the girl boarded the train from Thampanoor at 1 p.m. and did not leave at Parassala. The passenger mentioned that the girl appeared upset, carrying Rs 40 and a bag. Tasmeeth's mother confirmed that she had scolded her daughter for the earlier argument.

On Going Search For The Assamese Girl:

The Kerala Police, with support from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Tamil Nadu Police, are intensifying their search efforts. They are reviewing CCTV footage from various locations and investigating sightings reported by an auto-rickshaw driver who claimed to have seen the girl around 5:30 a.m., though authorities are skeptical of this account.

Authorities have also contacted Tasmeeth's brother, who lives in Chennai, to check if she might have traveled there. He reported that he had not seen his sister. The police suspect that Tasmeeth may have boarded another train and left the state, so they are also searching trains bound for other locations.

They believe as she left with minimal belongings, it is possible she has not traveled very far, and the search is ongoing in Chennai and surrounding areas.
