Tirupati Laddu Issue: Amul Denies Supplying Ghee To TTD

Amul On Tirupati Laddu Issue

Amul, a renowned dairy brand in India, has officially clarified that it does not supply ghee to the Tirupati temple. This statement was issued on September 20 in response to rumors online linking the company to the ongoing Tirupati Laddu controversy.

As the Tirupati Laddu issue gets bigger and bigger, there are many assumptions about the suppliers of Tirupati Laddu on social media. In this case, there are allegations formed against Amul mentioning that the brand is one of the Ghee suppliers of Tirupati Temple with some suggesting the use of animal fats, including beef and lard, in their products.

Amul Response:

Following the rumors, Amul issued a notice replying to them on their social media page on September 20. The notice read, "This is in reference to some social media posts mentioning that Amul Ghee was being supplied to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). We wish to inform that we have never supplied Amul Ghee to TTD."

Amul also highlighted that its ghee is produced exclusively from milk at ISO-certified facilities. The company assured consumers that the milk used undergoes rigorous quality checks, including adulteration detection as per FSSAI standards.

The notice concluded, "Amul Ghee is India's most trusted ghee brand for more than 50+ years and continues to be an integral part of Indian households. This post is being issued to stop this misinformation campaign against Amul."

Tirupati Laddu Issue:

Tirupati Venkateshwara temple is the most famous temple in India which is visited by lakhs of devotees from all over the world. In this case, Tirupati temple in return gives Laddu as a gift for the devotees. The Laddu was famously known as Tirupati Laddu which is considered as one of the most sacred Prasadam among the people.

In this situation, on September 19,  a controversy escalated when the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), claimed that a Gujarat-based livestock laboratory found evidence of beef tallow, lard, and fish oil in the ghee used to prepare the Tirupati Laddu.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu highlighted these findings, alleging that the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, had compromised the purity of the Laddu by using animal fats instead of pure ghee.

In response to that, the YSRCP has dismissed these claims, accusing Chandrababu Naidu of engaging in political manipulation. Investigations are currently underway, and if the allegations are substantiated, the government has indicated that severe action will be taken against those involved in this controversy.
