Pune Porsche Accident Update: Court Deny Bail To Minor Parents?

Pune Porsche Accident Case Update

The court denied bail to the accused in the Pune Porsche car accident case on August 22, mentioning significant evidence tampering that occurred almost immediately after the tragic incident.

The Pune Porsche Car accident that happened on May 19, killed two IT employees on Kalyani road. The fact the car was driven by a drunk 17-year-old, created a public outrage and gained public attention all over the country.

Court Denies Bail:

In this case, on August 22,  District Judge UM Mudholkar highlighted that the evidence tampering began almost immediately after the accident happened, even before the victims’ blood had fully dried from the scene. The judge criticized the applicants' actions, noting that the tampering involved significant economic influence and it occurred during odd hours.

Judge said, "After perusing the entire chargesheet which runs into almost 900 pages clearly goes to show that even before the splashes of blood lying on the road of the victims could get dried, the tampering with the evidence commenced..."

Reasons For The Bail Denial:

The judge expressed concern that releasing the accused of the Pune Porsche accident on bail could lead to further tampering of evidence and interfere with the trial process. He also emphasized that allowing bail could undermine the legal proceedings and send a troubling message to society.

The court noted that while most of the evidence is documentary or electronic, witness statements are also crucial, and there is a risk that the accused might attempt to influence these witnesses.

In denying bail, the judge stressed the severity of the crime and the potential impact of giving bail on public perception and justice. He concluded that the applicants had not made a convincing case for bail, given the high likelihood of further evidence tampering and the need to ensure the integrity of the legal process.
