Pune Porsche Accident: 900 Page Chargesheet Exposed 7 Accused

On July 26, a significant development occurred in the investigation into the Pune Porsche accident of May 19, as the Pune police filed a 900-page chargesheet in court. This document names seven individuals allegedly involved in a conspiracy related to the tragic incident.

The accused include 17-year-old Vendat Agarwal's father, Vishal Agarwal, a prominent local builder, his wife Shivani Agarwal, and two doctors from Sassoon General Hospital, Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Shrihari Halnor who are currently suspended. Also implicated are Atul Ghatkamble, a mortuary staffer, and two middlemen, Ashfaque Mankandar and Amar Gaikwad.

According to the police, Dr. Halnor, following instructions from Dr. Taware, is accused of tampering with evidence by disposing of the teenager's blood sample and replacing it with that of the minor's mother. This alleged manipulation was intended to mislead investigators regarding the teenager's blood alcohol levels at the time of the crash.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar declined to provide detailed descriptions of the individuals' roles but confirmed that all the accused were involved in a coordinated effort to tamper with evidence and influence the investigation through bribery.

Public prosecutor Shishir Hiray characterized the chargesheet as thorough and detailed, highlighting the significant evidence collected so far. The charges, which fall under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Motor Vehicles Act.

On the morning of May 19, a Porsche collided with a motorbike in Pune's Kalyani Nagar area, resulting in the deaths of IT employees Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa. The crash, recorded on CCTV, showed the car speeding at an estimated 160-200 kmph in a narrow lane.

The fact that the car was driven by a drunk 17-year-old sparked significant public outrage. The Pune Porsche accident case has many controversies, with numerous issues related to the accident including the teen's grandfather's arrest and subsequent evidence manipulation coming to light.
