The much-awaited Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, is finally set to open to the public on October 6, 2024. The launch of Phase 1, connecting Aarey to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) was inaugurated by India's Prime Minister Modi on October 5.

Mumbai Metro 3 Inauguration: 

The Metro Line 3 Phase 1 was inaugurated on October 5 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with several prominent dignitaries in attendance, including Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.

Public Opening:

The Metro Line will be open to the public from October 6, 2024. The metro route is a 12.44-kilometer stretch connecting Aarey to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).

Importance Of Mumbai Metro 3:

The launch of the Mumbai Metro 3 Aqua Line will improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance travel convenience, especially for commuters in the Western Suburbs, the Airport Area, and the Business Hub of BKC. 

After its inauguration, Phase 1 of the Mumbai Metro 3 will officially begin operations on October 6, 2024, and is expected to make traveling easy for Mumbai Citizens.

Mumbai Metro 3 Timings:

The Mumbai Metro 3 Aqua Line will operate from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM on weekdays, and from 8:30 AM to 10:30 PM on weekends. The line will run 9 trains, each consisting of 8 cars, with a total of 96 trips per day. Each train can carry up to 2,500 passengers, and trains will run at a headway of 6:40 minutes.

The Mumbai Metro 3 Aqua Line consists of 10 stations, with 9 underground and 1 at grade.
