The following day, police arrested Sanjay Roy as the accused in the case. Sanjoy Roy is a civic volunteer who was seen entering the hospital on the CCTV camera at the time of the crime. Also, Sanjay Roy's Bluetooth earphones were found at the scene of the crime which made him a prime suspect.

The Kolkata doctor's death case has taken a more intense turn as it has come to light that efforts to cover up the situation may be involved. The controversy deepened after the RG Kar Medical College Principal's initial comments about the victim sparked outrage among students. This led to widespread protests demanding justice for the doctor.

In response to the protests, the principal was asked to step down. However, the public's frustration only grew when he was quickly appointed as the head of another institution the very next day, raising further suspicions about possible complicity in the case.
