Jharkhand: Spanish Tourist Fernanda Gang Raped In India Case Detailed

Jharkhand police have arrested three of the eight accused who gang raped Feranda, a Spanish travel blogger, on March 1, 2024, in Dumka district. Severe actions are said to be taken against the accused, and the Police are in search of the other four accused since the victim holds both Spanish and Brazilian citizenship.

Who Is the Spanish Couple Fernanda And Vicente?

Fernanda, a Spanish travel vlogger with 382K followers on Instagram, was on a world tour with her husband, Vicente. Though she belongs to Brazil, she got double citizenship as her husband is from Spain. The couple planned a motorcycle trip to India to take a break from their busy schedule. 

This Spanish couple travelled to 62 countries on their motorcycle to create memorable experiences, and India was the 63rd country they were exploring. However, their journey was abruptly stopped due to the unexpected crime at Dumka in Jharkhand, approximately 300 km from the state capital of Ranchi, on March 1 (Friday).

Fernanda Rape Case:

On March 1, 2024, the couple was halted in a small tent as they couldn't find any hotel on the way. At that time, more than eight men surrounded their tent. Hearing the sounds, Vicente and Fernanda became pathetic. The men attacked Vicente with the helmet, which hit him hard and tore his mouth when he tried to protect Fernanda.

On the other hand, a few men assaulted Fernanda and rapped her for two hours continuously. It is reported the rapists took turns and raped her while others were watching her getting gang raped. The Spanish couple were left helpless for two hours. Once the rapist was done, they robbed the couple's cards and other things they had and ran away.

According to officials, this tragic incident came to light around 11 p.m. on Friday when the patrolling team of Hansdiha Police in Dumka spotted the couple near the road but couldn't understand their language as they spoke Spanish.

Seeing the injuries, the Police took them to the hospital. And then, the Spanish couple narrated the incident to the doctors and Police officials by Google translation.

Fernanda's Social Media Post:

Following the incident, Feranda took the issue to her social media page and posted, "Something has happened to us that we would not wish on anyone, eight men have raped me, they have beaten us and robbed us, although not many things, because what they wanted was to rape me. We are in the hospital with the Police, it happened tonight here in India." 

Three Accused Arrest:

The Police have arrested three men allegedly involved in the crime. A search is now underway to arrest the remaining accused. In response to the severity of the incident, a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to confirm a thorough and fast inquiry.
