Bengaluru Woman Murder: Suspect Found Dead, Confessed The Crime

The prime suspect in the Bengaluru Mahalakshmi murder case found dead by Suicide. The accused admitted to being the killer of Mahalakshmi in a phone call to his brother.
Bengaluru Woman Murder Case:
On September 27, a woman was found chopped over 50 pieces and stuffed in the fridge in the Bengaluru's Vyalikaval. This incident created a public outrage and raised questions of safety in Bengaluru.
The police continued their investigation from every angle in the case, which led them to find one of her missing friends. Recently, the Karnataka Home Minister stated that the prime suspect in the Mahalakshmi crime has been identified and is from Odisha. In this case, the suspect escaped to West Bengal.
The Prime Suspect Suicide:
The Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shekhar H Tekkannavar has confirmed that the prime suspect in a gruesome murder case was found dead due to suicide.
Shantunu Kumar Jena, the officer-in-charge of the police station in Odisha’s Dhusuri, stated that they received a report about a suicide and identified the victim as Ray.
Jena mentioned to a private channel, "We received the report at around 8:15 am. His body was found near Bhuinpur, where he lived. We sent it for post-mortem at around 9 am and then handed it over to the family,".
Prime Suspect Suicide Note:
The Prime suspect in the Mahalakshmi case is identified as Muktirajan Pratap Ray who is allegedly in a relationship with her, according to sources.
It is reported that the police had recovered a suicide note in which Ray purportedly admitted to committing the crime. "The Odisha Police have already registered an unnatural death case. Based on the suicide note, the Bengaluru police have confirmed he is the accused in the gruesome murder case," Kumar explained.
Mahalakshmi And Ray Worked Together:
Ray reportedly visited his village at around 4 am carrying his laptop bag and later left home on a two-wheeler. The Bengaluru city police, who were in Odisha as part of their investigation, are believed to be on their way to the village.
According to the police, Mahalakshmi and Ray worked together at the same mall and had been friends since 2023. Mahalakshmi, who was a team leader at a costume outlet in Malleshwaram, was separated from her husband.
Ray Confessed The Murder:
The police questioned several people associated with Mahalakshmi, including her husband and colleagues. During the investigation, they discovered that Ray was missing from his residence in Bengaluru.
The police then reached out to Ray's brother, who informed them that Ray had called and confessed to the murder. According to his brother, Ray had been asked to leave the state. Subsequently, the police confirmed that Ray had made the call to his brother from West Bengal, which was his last known location.
