Army Captain Deepak Singh Killed in Doda Terrorists Encounter

Deepak Singh, a young Indian army Captain, of the Rashtriya Rifles, was killed during an encounter with terrorists in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. The gunfight occurred in the Assar area of Doda, where security forces were engaged in a cordon and search operation (CASO) aimed at locating and neutralizing a group of terrorists.

Details of the Doda Encounter Operation:

It is said that the Army received a tip about the terrorist hideouts in Assar. So, the operation Op Assar began as a joint effort by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), focused on the Shivgarh-Assar belt. During the encounter, security personnel recovered an M4 rifle, clothing, and three rucksacks from the terrorist's hideout. The encounter began around 6 pm on Tuesday in Udhampur and was continued until both sides calmed down and started again in the early hours of Wednesday.

Who Is Captain Deepak Singh?

Captain Deepak Singh, who was serving with the Army's Corps of Signals on deputation with the 48 Rashtriya Rifles, was leading a company in this operation. Despite the fierce gunfights, he made the ultimate sacrifice in his line of duty.

Search Operation Continues:

Despite the huge loss, the search operation for the remaining terrorists continues amid ongoing heavy gunfire. It is believed that the terrorists may have sustained injuries, as indicated by the discovery of four blood-soaked rucksacks. The terrorists had crossed into Doda from a forest near Patnitop in the adjacent Udhampur district.

The Election Commission is set to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where Assembly elections are expected. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, will meet Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla to discuss the deployment of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in the region.
