Mahindra and Mahindra will miss Anand Mahindra from April 1 as he steps down from its Executive Chairman post: Anand Mahindra, a visionary of electric vehicles even ten years ago, will be missed by his company M&M or Mahindra and Mahindra. He was responsible for turning Mahindra and Mahindra from a small truck and jeep maker to many sectors like IT, SUVs & tractor makers, vacation ownership, and financial services. He will be replaced by Pawan Kumar Goenka, who is now the managing director as the next CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra.
Anand Mahindra was a third-generation scion of the famous Mahindra family. Born in 1955, he completed his MBA in Harvard to join as an assistant to the executive engineer of Mahindra Ugine Steel in 1981. Anand became the president of the company in 1989, and nothing stopped him from transforming M&M to an Indian conglomerate in the last thirty years. His acquisitions and expansions in many sectors made it possible and include
- Launch of the famous Scorpio SUV in 2002
- Satyam Computer Services in 2009
- Taking over South Korea's Ssangyong Motor Co in 2010
- Taking over India's first electric vehicle maker Reva Electric Co. in 2010

But without Anand, Mahindra and Mahindra will have to face tough situations in the future is the opinion of many reputed businessmen in India. Also, many showered their praises for him both in the profession and as a human being. The best could be that of Sangeetha Reddy, managing director of Apollo Hospitals. She said that Anand Mahindra is a combination of a beautiful mind, excellent administrator and a good human being.
