The Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from his residence on Thursday evening concerning the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam. Kejriwal was taken to the Enforcement Directorate's headquarters in Central Delhi.
The Enforcement Directorate had summoned Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal 9 times to appear in the Delhi liquor policy scam case.
But Kejriwal refused to appear, claiming that the summons by the Enforcement Directorate was illegal. While the case related to this was pending in the Delhi High Court, the High Court ordered the dismissal of Kejriwal's case.
A team of 12 officers from the enforcement department visited Kejriwal's house yesterday and searched. Following this, enforcement officers arrested Kejriwal last night and took action. In protest, Aam Aadmi Party members gathered in front of Kejriwal's house.
Aam Aadmi Party has decided to file an appeal in the Supreme Court challenging the arrest by the enforcement officers and declaring it invalid, in a social media post posted by party minister Atishi.
However, no special Supreme Court session was set up last night to hear Kejriwal's plea. Thus, it is seen that this case will be taken up for hearing today. Aam Aadmi Party has also announced that a nationwide protest will be held against Kejriwal's arrest.
