7 Killed In Jammu And Kashmir Ganderbal Terrorist Attack

7 killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district including six construction workers and a doctor on October 21. Following the attack security increased in the area and police are actively in search for the accused.

Terrorist Attack:

Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district terrorist attack occurred on October 20 night at a camp housing migrant workers who were working in tunnel construction for a private company.

According to sources, terrorists opened fire on the camp where both locals and non-local workers were staying. The terrorist attack led to the death of six construction workers and a doctor.

Who Are The Victims?

The victims of the terrorist attack were identified as 

  • Dr. Shahnawaz, a resident of Nayidgam in Budgam, 
  • Gurmeet Singh, from Gurdaspur in Punjab,
  • Mohammad Haneef,
  • Faheem Nasir, a safety manager
  • Kaleem, from Bihar,
  • Anil Kumar Shukla, a mechanical manager from Madhya Pradesh,
  • Shashi Abrol, a designer from Jammu.

In addition, the terrorist attack also left several others injured who were staying in a camp. Following the attack, the terrorists, reportedly two in number, used automatic weapons to open fire before fleeing the scene. An INSAS rifle was recovered from the site, along with two company vehicles that were set on fire.

The local police acted quickly to respond to the attack, rescuing the injured and taking them to nearby hospitals for treatment. Security forces have cordoned off the area following the attack. Authorities have started a search operation to find the terrorists as soon as possible.

Jammu And Kashmir CM Response:

In response to the attack, Jammu and Kashmir's newly-elected Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, on his X account condemning the violence said, "Very sad news of a dastardly and cowardly attack on non-local labourers at Gagangir in Sonamarg region. These people were working on a key infrastructure project in the area. 2 have been killed and 2-3 more have been injured in this militant attack. I strongly condemn this attack on unarmed innocent people & send my condolences to their loved ones."
