Scientists from Zhejiang University Discovered Natural Enamel Growth

No more filings of teeth with the natural growth of enamel found by Chinese Scientists

As per the research by Zhejiang University in China scientists, there is no more need in the future to fill in enamel to your teeth. It is because they have found a way to grow back the degenerated tooth enamel. It is happy news to more than 2.5 billion people worldwide living with caries in their permanent teeth. It could also benefit more than 500 million children having decay in their milk teeth. But, they have to wait for a few more years for this research to be clinically proved on humans.

The chemical mixture to grow enamel naturally:

Dr. Zhaoming Liu, the co-author of the enamel research team, confirmed that their new regenerated enamel has the same structure and mechanical properties of natural enamel. They found that Calcium and Phosphate ions with trimethylamine in alcohol solution applied to human teeth repaired the enamel layers to around 2.7 micrometres of thickness. They also had the same structure of natural enamel within 48 hours.

What is Tooth Enamel?

Tooth enamel is the outer part of the teeth and the hardest tissue in our body. It enables the functions of our teeth for a large part of our life for biting and grinding foods in the mouth. It is continuously exposed to acidic foods and drinks and extreme temperatures. Though, the hardest tissue in our body, unlike the other softer tissues, enamel cannot regenerate once it is lost. It will further lead to loss of teeth, pain, and many more issues. But with today's publication of the Chinese research on the natural way of regenerating it, brings in hope to billions of people worldwide.
