Actor Vadivelu has filed a lawsuit in the Madras High Court seeking ₹5 crore in damages from fellow actor Singamuthu for allegedly making defamatory statements about him on social media.

In addition, Vadivelu is also requesting a permanent injunction to prevent Singamuthu from making any further false or degrading comments.

In response to that, Justice R.M.T. Teeka Raman has admitted the case and instructed Singamuthu to respond to the lawsuit. Vadivelu’s complaint stems from interviews that Singamuthu gave to YouTube channels on January 16 and February 11, during which he allegedly made several false and defamatory remarks about Vadivelu’s personal and professional life.

Vadivelu had previously issued legal notices on March 19 to Singamuthu and the YouTube channels, demanding an apology and retraction of the statements. While the YouTube channels complied, Singamuthu defended his comments, asserting his right to free speech and framing the issue as a matter of debate.

Vadivelu criticized Singamuthu’s response as adding "salt to the wound," claiming that the defamatory statements have caused him significant mental distress and suffering. He argues that without a court order for compensation, Singamuthu is likely to continue making such "cheap and unwarranted" remarks.

Actor Vadivelu is a great comedian and actor who gained attention with his body language and dialogue delivery. He also worked with Singamuthu together in multiple films. So, their conflict created a lot of buzz among the fans.
