Uyir Thamizhukku, starring Ameer Sultan, was released on May 10 and received mixed reviews. The political satire with love drama failed to gain the public's attention.
Uyir Thamizhukku Plot:
Uyir Thamizhukku revolves around the MGR Pand who is a local citizen and a cable operator. MGR Pandi has an admiration for the late actor and politician Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran (MGR). He was inspired by MGR and he helps the local people and titled himself as MGR Pandi. He then falls in love with a politician's daughter which leads him to participate in the upcoming election to win his lover. Will he be able to succeed in his love and in politics? The rest of the movie answers the questions.
The Movie Name Change:
The movie was first titled Naarkaali and then turned into Uyir Thamizhukku. The director turned to actor Ameer when questioned about it and answered in the interview stating that he used the title to show the importance of the Tamil language and mentions the politics around Hindi language as a third language in schools. The actor adds that Naarkaali just represents the chair that politicians fight for, but the chosen title, Uyir Thamizhukku, shows the importance of the Tamil Language.
Uyir Thamizhukku Review:
Uyir Thamizhukku is a political satire movie that spoofs the political events that happened in the past ten years. The director in the movie is not subtle with the scenes, the scene can easily remind the audience of a political party or leader. The viewers do not have deep political knowledge to identify who the person is being spoofed.
Uyir Thamizhukku A Political Satire:
Ameer's acting skills are proven in the famous movie Vadachennai. In this movie, he performed well and gathered positive reviews from the audience. In Uyir Thamizhukku, the actor shows his satirical and funny side to the viewers.
Political drama always uses the love portion at its minimum but Uyir Thamizhukku gives equal importance to love as much as it gives to politics. The movie has brought concepts like meditation in front of the tomb, mentioning politics around the voting machines, and actors stepping into politics. These scenes can remind people of a particular incident or person which turns out to be a huge plus for the movie.
Uyir Thamizhukku Positive Review:
The actors in the movie are a perfect fit for the characters. The first half of the movie mainly focuses on political satire and some comedies worked well with its timing. The love scenes between Ameer and Chandini are strong in the movie. The movie earns hearty laughs from the audiences as the scenes are retable to politics.
Uyir Thamizhukku Negatives Review:
The second half of the movie does not reach its expectations and lags in some parts. The emotional parts did not work well as the character was shaped as a jovial guy. The songs in Uyir Thamizhukku were reviewed below average by the fans. The songs seem to be outdated, and the movie lacks in the logical area. Considering Uyir Thamizhukku is a spoof film lack of logic is not a huge issue.
Overall, the movie received is a one-time watchable for political lovers, and for normal movie lovers, it is up to their political knowledge.
