Suriya, in an undated letter, gives full details of his decision to release Surarai Portru as a producer and the excerpts of the letter include

• Even during the worst corona crisis, it is important to move forward with hope like a flower blossoming even during great difficulties
• Time did not permit me to allow to watch Soorarai Pottru in theaters along with fans
• It is important to release the excellent movie taken with hard work of several technicians including the years of work by the director Sudha Kongara in time not to lose its value
• 2D Entertainment has so far produced eight movies, and another ten movies are to be produced and released soon
• Soorarai Pottru is one of the best movies I have acted so far
• Request all the film fraternity, public, and the fans to understand the situation that leads to the release of the movie in OTT platform
• Took this tough decision only as a producer with a self-conscience
• Will act in two more movies by the end of the pandemic and release it first in theaters
• Practiced sharing what I have so far and to follow it with releasing this movie on OTT platform
• Will donate Rs. Five crores to the needy and the formalities of who all will be the beneficiaries including the frontline coronavirus warriors will be released soon
